Sydney’s best picnic spot: Barangaroo Reserve

Enjoy a picnic in the sun just a ripple from the water amidst native plantings and golden sandstone at Barangaroo Reserve.

There are sandstone coves looking out toward the harbour bridge, waterfront lawns shaded by native trees and rolling green spaces with elevated views. Getting here is easy - the only hard part is choosing a spot!

Picnics in Barangaroo Reserve

Barangaroo Reserve is Sydney’s newest waterfront park, providing a new perspective of the harbour. Alcohol is allowed in the reserve so you can BYO drinks, food and picnic blanket. On hot days bring shade or find a cool spot underneath one of our beautiful native trees throughout the Reserve.

If you’d rather dine out, there are countless Sydney restaurants and cafes nearby offering delicious picnic food. Simply have some takeway from premium fish and chips from love.fish, French pastries from Sacrebleu! Or delicious Japanese inspired burgers from Ume Burger.

No bookings required

Groups of up to 50 people who are not cooking onsite and do not require infrastructure are free to picnic in Barangaroo Reserve without a booking.

If you are hosting a picnic of more than 50 people please contact our events team at barangaroo.events@property.nsw.gov.au or make an enquiry online for help arranging your event.
